Hurricane Irma is on a warpath, and there’s no stopping her. So far, Hurricane Irma has ripped through Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Marten, The U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas and Cuba. The destruction she has left behind is devastating, and she’s not done yet.
Irma is expected to make landfall as a Category Five storm in the Florida Keys between 5 AM and 7 AM on Sunday. Her path has shifted away from the Carolinas, but meterologists are warning that the entire state of Florida is in danger, as the storm is currently on track to move directly up the middle of Florida and curve inland.
The National Hurricane Center is warning the public that Hurricane Irma is “extremely dangerous.” The hurricane has sustained winds of 155 mph, which are strong enough to bring down power poles, uproot trees and even rip the roof off of homes. Barrier islands and coastal communities across Florida are under mandatory evacuation orders. According to ABC News, over 1.2 million Florida residents have been ordered to evacuate.
Hurricane Irma should not be taken lightly. Photos of the path of destruction in her wake have been circling social media, detailing just how powerful and dangerous she is.
